reproduced following the original 1800s museum collection of butterfly swords, a must-have for dedicated martial artists and blade collectors & enthusiasts.
Following the photos, specifications, and details shared by our dear friend Arne Schaich, a Martial Arts, Fighting Arts, & Fitness trainer at FENGBAO, we proudly took on this project. Arne wished to reproduce a pair of swords from his most treasured collection, and we were honored to bring his vision to life.
As the owner of the original swords, Arne describes them as:
The “FENGBAO Hu Die Dao MOD1850“, designed by FENGBAO KUNGFU and SCHAICH KNIVES, are by far the most authentic reproduction of a pair of butterfly swords out of the mid- to late 1800‘s. Swords that were actually used mainly by Kungfu practitioners of southern styles such as Wing Chun, Hung Ga and Choy Li Fut.
They are 100 percent handcrafted out of 5160 steel with an exceptional differential heat treatment all made by master blacksmiths at KHHI. The rich ornamented rosewood handle provides a safe grip and is a one of a kind beauty with its vase and plum motive, typical for its time. These swords come with one leather scabbard that holds both of them.
An absolute must have for every blade enthusiast wether you use it for training or keep it on your wall as a family piece. To get more information about training, history and upcoming reproduction designs visit the www.fengbao.at and reach out to the designer.
At KHHI, we are deeply grateful to Arne for entrusting us with this task. It is our honor to recreate such a historical masterpiece. With great care and craftsmanship, we will refine every detail to make this reproduction even more accurate and true to the originals. Thank you, Arne, for this opportunity!
Note: The price is for a pair of blades (both swords) and one leather sheath, The Sheath fits both blades
