Team KHHI
Our Craftsmen, Our Heroes... Men behind the success of KHHI
One of the main reasons why KHHI Nepal has come this far is due to the hard work, skill and sweat put up by our craftsmen. In the Nepalese knife industry, craftsmen are better known as “Kami” (Blacksmith/bladesmiths) and are the backbone of this industry. Sadly these unsung heroes have always remained behind the screen and have never come or brought to the limelight; never exposed. Hence KHHI feels it’s high time to introduce our unsung heroes to the world as the real heroes – men behind the legendary knife!
With the intention of introducing our heroes to our buyers, KHHI ships the maker's profile with his signature and thumbprint with the knives made by him. This is done to introduce the buyer with the maker of his knife and in a strong belief, that s/he would somehow feel more connected with the craftsmen and the knife. Furthermore, the maker’s initial is engraved near the peak of the blade or in the rivet of the handle in order to distinguish each knife from one maker to another.
Sheath/Scabbard makers also play a vital role in the production as it directly impacts the first looks of the knives. They have expertise both in carving the wood to give a perfect fitting shape to the blade and working with the leather. Their finishing determines the overall quality of the product.
Finishers /Quality Testers: It would be completely unfair to forget these heroes, it all depends on their hand how beautiful a khukuri can look. The go after the finishing process of the blade that includes machinery to polish and shine the blade and handles. Quality testers make sure that the best quality is delivered to you.
At KHHI the sweat and the smile goes hand in hand to produce the knife that you will be so much in love with.
