A letter to the old wild west...
Designed by swords, knife enthusiasts Brian xing, crafted by the master kukri makers at KHHI nepal, the steel maiden bowie was designed to be a elegant, classy and more traditional style bowie without loosing the capability of handling some rough and perhaps extreme tasks for its design as a stick-tang fighting knife.
The blade
The Steel maiden bowie possess the visual elements of a old-timey classic fighting bowie but when held in the hand the girth and blade thickness of 7-8mm, blade length up to 11 inches will give you the courage to take on any tasks out in the wilderness no matter if you are facing man, beast or just some foliage blocking your path.
While being a rather broad-bladed knife the false edge on the clip point will give it a surprisingly good stabbing ability,
If you choose to optionally sharpen the false edge when ordering you will receive the maximum smoothness for a thrust and also the ability to perform the famus bowie knife back-cuts, if held backwards with the spine facing outwards, you may block incoming attacks with the flat spine at the base and cut with the now claw-like sharp tip thanks to that sharpened false edge, not to mention the buffalo horn handle shape was designed to be held in both ways, main edge forward (utility) or false edge forward(fighting) .
Guard
Spirituality as a fighting knife the steel maiden also possess a steel hand guard that's curved in both sides of the tip, shaped like a bulls horn, not only to protect the hand from sliding up the blade but also blocking or even catching your opponents blade when it slides down yours, to assist that function the guard is completely welded onto the blade so its not going anywhere any time soon if something hits it,You can even ask the makers to enlarge the curved guard for extra protection but sacrifice the ease of carrying of course.
Carrying
as man who use to work with knife on the weekly i have gained quite some experience on carrying knifes. And a functional comfortable carry always starts with a well designed Sheath or scabbard, as a man that uses to carry relatively large knifes in dense&complex environments with unexpected weather I have came up with a rather strange way to carry such a large-broad knife in morden day, instead of using a Sheath design that leaves the knife hanging around the waist I came up with a thick leather Sheath that possess a small strap on the side of the Sheath itself, by feeding your belt through the strap and tightening it now the knife is as close to the body as possible, by wearing the knife behind the belt you have enough room to adjust the position of the knife when you are performing different tasks, running climbing or sitting, also since the knife is so close to the hip when rainy weather approaches you can simply put on your jacket or raincoat with the knife under it and now your precious knife is away from the water.
Final
the might and beauty of the bowie knife had inspired us knife enthusiasts for centuries , now as a young knife enthusiast I here bring the Steel maiden bowie, a letter to the old wild west, brought to you by the great KHHI, design by Brian xing.
Thank you and Namaste 🙏🏼
